Bank verification
Dashen Receipt Check
Free, no signup. Checked against Dashen's own receipt record.
Dashen Bank publishes every transfer receipt as a public web page. cheki reads it with only the FT Ref, for both within-Dashen and other-bank transfers.
Required information
- FT Ref (required), e.g.
B22WDTI2619100WH
Older receipt?
- Dashen Super App receipt link (deprecated, retired 2026-10-10). Old links are still recognised: cheki reads the reference from them and checks it on the current receipt page.
Reference number format
16-character FT Ref shown in the Dashen app (also labelled Transaction Reference on the web receipt), e.g. B22WDTI2619100WH. Do not use the longer Transaction Ref / Transfer Reference.
Example: B22WDTI2619100WH
How to verify Dashen with cheki
- Get the FT Ref from the Dashen receipt or app screen (e.g. B22WDTI2619100WH)
- cheki fetches the official receipt page from receipts.dashenbanksc.com
- Sender, receiver, amount, date and reference are read from Dashen's own record and returned as structured JSON
How Dashen receipt verification works
The Dashen receipt endpoint is: https://receipts.dashenbanksc.com/receipt/{REFERENCE} (current format)
Placeholders, error shapes and gotchas are in the Dashen endpoint reference.
This is a public URL that returns a HTML page containing the official transaction data. No authentication is required.
Who uses Dashen verification

- Businesses reconciling Dashen deposits

Verifying Dashen via API
cheki provides a free REST API for Dashen verification:
POST https://cheki.et/api/verify
Request body: { "bank": "dashen", "reference": "B22WDTI2619100WH" }
See the API documentation for full details.
What you need to verify a Dashen receipt
To verify a Dashen receipt, you need only the transaction reference number.
- Transaction reference number (e.g. B22WDTI2619100WH), found on the receipt or in the Dashen app
- No account number required, Dashen returns the full receipt with just the reference
How to spot a fake Dashen receipt
Fake Dashen receipts are a growing problem in Ethiopia. A fake receipt may have a real-looking reference number but will not appear in Dashen's system. Always verify through cheki or the official Dashen app. If cheki returns 'Receipt not found', the receipt is likely fake.
- Check that the sender name matches who claimed to send the payment
- Verify the amount matches what was agreed
- Confirm the date is recent (not an old receipt being reused)
- Check the reference number format (16-character FT Ref shown in the Dashen app (also labelled Transaction Reference on the web receipt), e.g. B22WDTI2619100WH. Do not use the longer Transaction Ref / Transfer Reference.)
Checking Dashen payment status
Dashen Bank publishes transaction data at https://receipts.dashenbanksc.com/receipt/{REFERENCE}. When someone sends you a payment via Dashen, a receipt is generated at this URL. cheki fetches the receipt, parses it, and tells you whether the payment is real, who sent it, and for how much. This takes 2 to 10 seconds.
What information you need
To check a Dashen payment, ask the sender for the FT Ref from their receipt. That's all you need, no account number required.
