How Siinqee receipt verification works
The Siinqee receipt endpoint is: https://receipt.ebirr.com/siinqee/{token}

Who uses Siinqee verification
- Merchants verifying Siinqee transfers
- Businesses reconciling Siinqee deposits
Verifying Siinqee via API
cheki provides a free REST API for Siinqee verification:
POST https://cheki.et/api/verify
Request body: { "bank": "siinqee", "reference": "SQ12345678" }
See the API documentation for full details.
What you need to verify a Siinqee receipt
To verify a Siinqee receipt, you need only the transaction reference number.
- Transaction reference number (e.g. SQ12345678), found on the receipt or in the Siinqee app
- No account number required, Siinqee returns the full receipt with just the reference
How to spot a fake Siinqee receipt
Fake Siinqee receipts are a growing problem in Ethiopia. A fake receipt may have a real-looking reference number but will not appear in Siinqee's system. Always verify through cheki or the official Siinqee app. If cheki returns 'Receipt not found', the receipt is likely fake.
- Check that the sender name matches who claimed to send the payment
- Verify the amount matches what was agreed
- Confirm the date is recent (not an old receipt being reused)
- Check the reference number format (Alphanumeric transaction reference)
Checking Siinqee payment status
Siinqee Bank publishes transaction data at https://receipt.ebirr.com/siinqee/{token}. When someone sends you a payment via Siinqee, a receipt is generated at this URL. cheki fetches the receipt, parses it, and tells you whether the payment is real, who sent it, and for how much. This takes 2 to 10 seconds.
What information you need
To check a Siinqee payment, ask the sender for the eBirr receipt link from their receipt. That's all you need, no account number required.
